Plan a change before you make it

Choose the questions and assistants a change should move before you make it, then mark it live on the day, so nobody can pick the questions that happened to go up afterwards.

Updated

Why plan first

When you plan a change, you choose the assistants and questions it should move before you make it. Once it goes live, those choices are locked, so nobody can pick the questions that happened to go up afterwards. The finished result says so: “Planned Sep 15, 2026, before it went live: these targets were fixed in advance.”

A plan is also the only way to aim a change at certain questions. A change you log after it went live is measured on every question you track.

Planning is on every plan, on the Proof page only. Changes logged through the API or an AI tool are recorded after the fact.

Save a plan

  1. In the sidebar, select Proof, then select Log or plan a change.

  2. Select Plan it first. The heading changes to Plan a change, and the date goes away.

The numbers match steps 2 to 7. Demo business, captured October 23, 2026.
The Plan a change form with Plan it first selected, a description, no assistants selected and three tracked questions ticked.
  3. Under What changed, describe what you will do.

  4. Under Engines it should move, select the assistants it should reach, or leave them all off for every assistant.

  5. Under Questions it should move, tick the tracked questions it should move, up to 50. Leave them all off if it affects every question.

  6. Optional: fill in Page that changed (optional).

  7. Select Save plan.

You see “Planned. Mark it live the day you make the change.” The plan shows the pill Planned, “not live yet” and “Planned Oct 21, 2026. Mark it live the day you make the change.” It is not measured yet.

Tip

The questions you leave off become part of the comparison, like the assistants. If the list says “No tracked questions yet.”, add questions first: see Add, edit or pause the questions you track.

Mark it live on the day

  1. Make the change on your website or listing.

  2. The same day, on the Proof page, find the plan. Its pill reads Planned.

The pill (2) and It's live now (3). Demo business, captured October 23, 2026.
A planned change with the pill Planned, the line Planned Oct 21, 2026. Mark it live the day you make the change, and the buttons It’s live now and Leave out.
  3. Select It's live now.

You see “Marked live. Measured every night from now on.” Measuring starts, and the verdict comes about 31 days later.

Important

It's live now takes the moment you select it as the go-live time, and the dashboard cannot set an earlier one. If you select it days late, those days count as before the change. Once a plan is live, its assistants, questions and dates cannot be changed.

Drop a plan you will not carry out

  1. On the plan, select Leave out. It dims and its pill reads Left out.

  2. To bring it back, select Restore plan.

See a planned result

  1. On a finished change that you planned, find the line “Planned …, before it went live: these targets were fixed in advance.”

The planned line (1). Demo business, captured October 23, 2026.
A Verified change with the line Planned Sep 15, 2026, before it went live: these targets were fixed in advance.

Frequently asked questions

Can I edit a plan?

No. To change a plan before it goes live, select Leave out on it and save a new plan.

I made the change last week but forgot to mark the plan live. What now?

Leave the plan out, then log the change with the day it really went live. It is measured from the right day, but the result will not say its targets were fixed in advance. The logged change is measured on every question, because only a plan can be aimed at certain questions.
