Log a change you made

Record a change you made outside LegitGeo, such as new prices on your site or an updated listing, so Proof can measure whether it moved AI answers.

Updated

Before you start

Log a change when you changed something outside LegitGeo: prices on your website, a new service page, your Google Business Profile or Yelp listing, a push for reviews. Anyone on your team can log one, on any plan.

Important

Do not log a Diagnosis fix you marked Done or an Action Center action you completed. Proof adds those by itself, and logging one again makes two overlapping changes whose effects cannot be told apart.

Log a change that already went live

  1. In the sidebar, select Proof.

  2. Select Log or plan a change at the top right. On an empty page you can also select Log a change under Nothing measured yet.

  3. Leave It already went live selected.

The numbers match steps 3 to 8. Demo business, captured October 23, 2026.
The Log a change form, filled in with Added prices to the drain cleaning page, today’s date, ChatGPT and Perplexity selected, and a page address.
  4. Under What changed, describe the change in a few words, for example “Added prices to the drain cleaning page”.

  5. In Went live on, choose the day the change went live. It starts on today.

  6. Under Engines it should move, select the assistants the change can reach. Leave them all off if it reaches every assistant.

  7. Optional: in Page that changed (optional), paste the address of the page you changed.

  8. Select Log change.

You see “Logged. It is measured every night from now on.” The change appears at the top of the list, marked Logged by your team, with a first reading of the four weeks before it. Its verdict comes about 31 days after the go-live date: see How long a verdict takes.

A logged change is measured on every question you track. Only a plan can be aimed at certain questions: see Plan a change before you make it.

Find a change you logged

  1. On the Proof page, look for Logged by your team at the start of the line under a change’s title. The line also gives the go-live date and the assistants. Only a planned change can be aimed at certain questions, so only a planned one also says how many.

A change your team logged (1). It was planned first, so the line also counts its questions and the planned line sits under it. Demo business, captured October 23, 2026.
A change named Added a price table to the water heater page, with the line Logged by your team, live Sep 18, 2026, aimed at Google AI Overview and Google Gemini, 5 questions, and under it Planned Sep 17, 2026, before it went live: these targets were fixed in advance.

Choose the right assistants

The assistants you leave off become part of the comparison, so select only the ones the change can really reach. A Yelp profile mostly feeds ChatGPT; a Google Business Profile feeds Google AI Overview, Google Gemini and, on Growth, Google AI Mode; a change to your own website can reach them all.

Do not leave an assistant off just to get a comparison. If the change did reach it, the comparison moves too and hides your result.

Local and Agency plans track ChatGPT, Google AI Overview, Perplexity and Google Gemini. The list also shows Google AI Mode and Microsoft Copilot, which only the Growth plan tracks. On Local or Agency, a change aimed only at those two has nothing to measure.

Rules for the date and the page

The date cannot be in the future, and it can be at most 90 days ago. An older date is refused with the message “effectiveAt can be at most 90 days ago”.

A change that went live more than 31 days ago gets its verdict as soon as you log it. Without four weeks of answers before that date, the verdict is Not proven.

With a page address, the result shows when each AI crawler re-read that page. That needs AI Crawlers connected.

What changed takes up to 200 characters. Log change stays greyed out until it has text.

If you made a mistake

A logged change cannot be edited or deleted, and it is measured exactly as it was logged. If the date or the assistants are wrong, select Leave out on it and log it again correctly. See Leave a change out of measurement.

Changes you log on the Proof page are measured for you but are never added to the lift library, because a description in your own words does not say which kind of fix it was.

An AI tool connected to your account can log a change for you too, and it shows as Logged by your team. When the tool also names the kind of fix, the change can be added to the lift library. See Connect Claude, Cursor or another AI tool to LegitGeo.

Frequently asked questions

I changed my website and my Google profile on the same day. One change or two?

Log one change that describes both, aimed at every assistant either can reach. Two changes that reach the same assistants in the same weeks cannot be told apart, so neither could be Verified.

Can I log a change I made four months ago?

No. Proof measures changes that went live up to 90 days ago.
