Put the Lead Chatbot on your website

Create a chat assistant that answers visitors from your own content, add it to your site with one line of code, and get the leads it collects by email.

Updated

What the Lead Chatbot does

The Lead Chatbot is a chat window for your website. It answers visitors day and night from the content you give it, such as your prices, hours and service area, and asks for their name and email first, so each conversation can become a lead.

Each plan includes a number of chatbot answers per month: Local 1,500, Growth 7,500 and Agency 15,000. When they run out, visitors see “This assistant has answered all it can this month. Please use the contact details on this page.”

Website visitors can also use at most a fifteenth of the month in any 24 hours: Local 100, Growth 500 and Agency 1,000 answers. This stops one busy day from using up the month. After that, visitors see “This assistant has answered all it can today. Please use the contact details on this page.” Test questions you ask in the preview do not count toward this daily limit.

Create your assistant

  1. In the sidebar, under Search & Local, select Lead Chatbot.

  2. Under Set up your assistant, fill in Assistant name, Brand colour and First message, the greeting visitors see.

Assistant name (2), Your website domains (3), Email new leads to (4) and Ask for contact details first (5). After you create the assistant, these fields are on its Settings tab, as here. Captured October 23, 2026, from the demo business Harborline Plumbing.
The assistant settings with Assistant name, Brand colour, First message, Your website domains, Email new leads to and Ask for contact details first, and a preview of the chat on the right.
  3. In Your website domains, type your website, such as yourbusiness.com. Separate several with commas. The assistant only works on these sites.

  4. In Email new leads to, type the address that should get each new lead.

  5. Leave Ask for contact details first ticked, so visitors share their name and email before chatting.

  6. Select Create assistant. You see Assistant created. Now add what it should know.

Teach it about your business

The assistant answers only from what you add on the Knowledge tab: pages of your website, or text you paste in.

  1. Open the Knowledge tab.

Knowledge (1), Web page (2), the page address box (3) and Add page (4). Captured October 23, 2026, from the demo business Harborline Plumbing.
The Knowledge tab with Web page and Text options, a page address box, an Add page button and a list of four knowledge items.
  2. Select Web page.

  3. Paste the address of a page, such as your FAQ page, into the box.

  4. Select Add page.

  5. Repeat for your services, pricing, service area and policies pages.

Ask it a question in the preview on the right to check, for example “do you do emergency calls at night?” Test questions count toward your monthly answers too.

If the Answer engine box says Quotes, the assistant replies by quoting the most relevant passage of your content rather than writing its own sentences. The note about connecting the AI chat engine is about LegitGeo’s own setup: there is nothing for you to connect.

Add text instead of a page

Use text for details that are not on your website, such as prices you quote by phone.

  1. On the Knowledge tab, select Text.

  2. Type a title, such as “Prices and hours”.

  3. Paste or type the text in the large box.

  4. Select Add text. You see Added.

To remove a page or text, select the bin icon at the end of its row.

Add it to your website

  1. Open the Install tab.

Install (1) and Copy (2). The code is blurred here. Captured October 23, 2026, from the demo business Harborline Plumbing.
The Install tab with instructions and the one-line code, blurred, with a Copy button.
  2. Select Copy next to the one line of code.

  3. Paste it just before </body> on every page of your site. On WordPress, use a header-and-footer plugin; on Wix or Squarespace, add it as custom code in the footer.

A chat button then appears on your site. Visitors agree that your business may contact them about their question, and the window says “Powered by LegitGeo”.

Important

If Your website domains is empty, anyone could put your assistant on their own site and use your answers. Add your domain on the Settings tab.

Follow up on leads

  1. Open the Leads tab. Each lead shows the visitor’s name, email, phone and when they chatted.

Leads (1), the status menu (2), View conversation (3) and Export CSV (4). Email addresses are blurred. Captured October 23, 2026, from the demo business Harborline Plumbing.
The Leads tab with a list of leads, each with a status menu and a View conversation link, and an Export CSV button. Email addresses are blurred.
  2. Set each lead’s status to New, Contacted, Won or Lost as you follow up.

  3. Select View conversation to read the chat.

  4. Select Export CSV to download all leads as leads.csv.

Each new lead is also emailed to the address in Email new leads to, with the subject “New lead:” and the visitor’s name. To send leads to your own tools too, see Send LegitGeo alerts to Zapier, Make or n8n.

Change its settings

  1. Open the Settings tab.

  2. Change what you need, such as Email new leads to.

  3. Select Save changes. You see Saved.

Pause the assistant

  1. Open the Settings tab.

  2. Select Pause assistant. The preview shows Paused: hidden on your site.

To show it on your site again, select Turn assistant on.

Frequently asked questions

Visitors see a message that the assistant cannot answer more. Why?

One of its limits was reached. “Answered all it can this month” means your plan’s chatbot answers for the month are used up. “Answered all it can today” means website visitors used the day’s share: Local 100, Growth 500 or Agency 1,000 answers in 24 hours. “You have sent a lot of messages today” or “Too many messages. Please wait a moment.” means one visitor sent a lot of messages. See See how much of your plan is left this month.
