See which AI assistants visit and read your website

Add the AI traffic snippet to count visitors who arrive from ChatGPT and other assistants, and connect AI Crawlers to see which AI bots read your pages; they are two separate installs.

Updated

Two separate installs

AI Traffic Analytics counts people who click through to your website from an AI assistant. AI Crawlers records the AI bots that read your pages, which is how assistants learn about you. Each needs its own small piece of code on your website, and installing one does not install the other. Both are on every plan.

Add the AI traffic snippet

  1. In the sidebar, select AI Traffic Analytics.

  2. In Add this snippet to your website, select the copy button (Copy tracking script).

The AI Traffic Analytics page with the Add this snippet to your website box and its copy button.
  3. Paste it just before the closing </head> tag on every page of your website. On a website builder, paste it into the box for header code. Then publish your site.

The snippet looks like <script src="https://api.legitgeo.com/t.js" data-t="..." defer></script>, with your business’s own code in place of the dots. Visits from AI assistants appear as they happen, and ordinary visits are ignored.

The snippet box stays on the page after you install it; LegitGeo does not check that it is installed. To test it, ask ChatGPT about your business, select the link to your website, then look for the visit under Recent AI Referral Visits.

Read your AI traffic

  1. Choose a Date Range. This page opens on 7d.

  2. Read AI-Referred Visits, Top Platform and Platforms, then the chart and Platform Breakdown.

Date Range (1), the visit counts (2) and Platform Breakdown (3). Made-up demo business, captured October 23, 2026.
The AI Traffic Analytics page with 42 AI-referred visits in 7 days, ChatGPT as the top platform, a trend chart and a platform breakdown.
  3. Scroll down to Referrals by Platform and Top Landing Pages to see which assistants send visitors and where they land.

  4. In Recent AI Referral Visits, search by page or choose an assistant in All platforms. Clear filters resets them.

Important

These numbers undercount. Many AI apps don’t say where a visitor came from, and clicks from Google’s AI Overviews arrive from google.com, so they are not counted.

Connect AI Crawlers

  1. In the sidebar, select AI Crawlers.

  2. Select Add site.

  3. In Add a site, type a Label, such as “Main website”, and your Domain.

Label and Domain (3) and Create site (4). Made-up demo business, captured October 23, 2026.
The Add a site window with Main website as the label, the business’s domain filled in and the Create site button.
  4. Select Create site.

  5. In the next window, select Copy next to the token. The token is a private code that lets the code you install send your website’s bot visits to your account. Treat it like a password: it is shown only once.

  6. Choose the tab for your hosting (Cloudflare Worker, Vercel / Next.js, Express, WordPress or Nginx), select Copy and install the code, or send it to whoever runs your website.

  7. Select I’ve installed it.

The site then appears at the top of AI Crawlers with when it was last visited. Numbers appear once the first AI bot visits a page. The AI crawler visits, 7 days row on Overview reads from here, not from the traffic snippet.

See which bots read your pages

  1. Choose 7d, 30d or 90d.

  2. On Overview, read AI crawler visits, AI systems reading you, AI visits that hit errors and Verified bot visits, then By bot, Top paths and Failing paths further down.

  3. Select Read vs. cited to compare the pages bots read with the pages answers cite: Read & cited, Read, never cited and Cited, never read.

  4. Select Raw log for every visit, with the bot, page, status and whether it was verified.

The range (1), the tiles (2) and the Overview, Read vs. cited and Raw log tabs (3). The token is blurred. Made-up demo business, captured October 23, 2026.
The AI Crawlers page with one connected site, the 7d, 30d and 90d buttons, the Overview, Read vs. cited and Raw log tabs and four tiles.

Failing paths are pages bots tried to read but got an error for; fixing those comes first. See Check your site’s health.

Only Google, Bing and Apple bots can be confirmed by their network address; they show as verified. Others show UA only, which means LegitGeo goes by the name the bot gave.

Replace a lost token or remove a site

Replace the token if you lost it before installing the code, or if someone outside your team may have it.

  1. To replace the token, select the circular arrows on the site. A new install window opens with a new token.

  2. To remove the site, select the red bin on it.

Replace the token (1) or remove the site (2). The token is blurred. Made-up demo business, captured October 23, 2026.
A connected site on AI Crawlers with its label, domain, blurred token, last hit time, a circular arrows button and a red bin.
Important

Neither button asks you to confirm. A new token stops the old one at once, so update the code on your website straight away. Removing a site happens immediately.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need both installs?

No. The traffic snippet tells you about visitors from AI; AI Crawlers tells you about the bots that read your pages. Install the one that answers your question, or both.

Will the snippet slow my website down?

The traffic snippet loads with defer, so the browser runs it after the page is ready.
