What LegitGeo does, in five minutes

LegitGeo checks whether AI assistants such as ChatGPT name your business, shows what keeps them from it, and measures whether each fix you make changed their answers.

For business ownersUpdated

The short version

When someone asks ChatGPT, Google’s AI Overviews, Perplexity or Gemini for “an emergency plumber in Irvine” or “a dentist near me who takes new patients”, the assistant names a few businesses. LegitGeo tells you whether yours is one of them, what keeps it out, and, once you fix something, whether the fix changed what the assistants say.

It is built for local businesses of every kind, from home services, dental practices, med spas and law firms to auto shops, veterinary clinics, real estate agents, gyms and brands with many locations, and for the agencies and platforms that serve them. The examples in this help center use Harborline Plumbing, a made-up business.

Start with the free website check

The free check reads your website the way AI assistants do. It needs no account and takes about a minute.

  1. Go to the free check.

  2. In Your website, type your address, for example yourbusiness.com.

Type your address in Your website (1), select Check my site (2), and see the 17 AI crawlers the check tests (3). Real product screen, October 23, 2026.
The free check page: a Your website box with a Check my site button, and on the right the list of 17 AI crawlers the check tests.
  3. Select Check my site. About a minute later you see a score out of 100, which AI crawlers can reach your site, and your top 3 fixes.

Important

The score says whether AI assistants can read your site. It does not say whether they recommend you. Only tracking their answers can tell you that.

Track what AI assistants say about you

With a plan, you choose the questions your customers ask, such as “who fixes tankless water heaters near me”. Every night LegitGeo asks the AI assistants each question and keeps their answers.

  1. Open Visibility in the sidebar to see how often each assistant names or cites your business, and which competitors it names instead.

Visibility in the sidebar (1) opens the page headed Answer Engine Insights. The line under the title (2) says when the last run finished. Harborline Plumbing is a made-up business with sample data. Real product screen, October 23, 2026.
The Visibility page, headed Answer Engine Insights, with the line Harborline Plumbing, Last run: 1d ago under the title, and score cards below.

Local and Agency plans ask the four core assistants: ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and Gemini. Growth adds Google AI Mode and Microsoft Copilot.

Fix what holds you back

When you select Run diagnosis, Diagnosis reads up to 25 pages of your website, checks which AI crawlers can reach it, and lists what to fix, most important first, with the steps for each fix. Overview shows your next three.

When you have made a fix on your website, mark it Done, then select Run again on Diagnosis. When the new check no longer finds the problem, the fix is confirmed. See Work through your fix list.

Find out whether a fix worked

LegitGeo calls this verified lift: the rise in how often AI assistants name you that is still there after taking away what happened, in the same weeks, to similar businesses that changed nothing. That comparison is what tells a real result apart from an AI update that moved everyone.

  1. Open Proof in the sidebar.

Proof in the sidebar (1) lists every change being measured. Log or plan a change (2) adds one you made outside LegitGeo. Harborline Plumbing is a made-up business with sample data. Real product screen, October 23, 2026.
The Proof page with a Log or plan a change button and a list of changes, each marked Planned or Measuring.
  2. Find your change. While it is measured it shows Measuring. When the measurement ends it shows one verdict: Verified, Probably helped, No effect found, Went down or Not proven.

Tip

A verdict takes about a month: three days for assistants to re-read your pages, then four weeks of answers. What each verdict means explains each one.

Choose a plan

Local is $99 a month, Growth $299 and Agency $499, each with a 14-day free trial on your first subscription. Compare plans lists what each one includes.

What LegitGeo does not do

LegitGeo does not change your website for you, and no one can promise what an AI assistant will say next month. LegitGeo shows you what to fix, helps you prepare some fixes, and measures what happened after you made them.
