Find out why your visibility score changed

Open the breakdown to see which questions, assistants and topics moved your score compared with the period before.

Updated

Open the breakdown

The breakdown compares the period you picked with a period of the same length just before it. The line under its title gives the exact days, for example “Last 29 days vs previous 29 days” with 30d picked.

  1. Open Visibility and choose a Date Range, such as 30d.

  2. Select the Visibility card. Hovering it shows “Click to see breakdown”. The Visibility Breakdown panel opens on the right, and the line under its title says which days it compares.

The summary (3) and the line that names the biggest change (4). Made-up demo business, captured October 23, 2026.
The Visibility Breakdown panel, with the current score, the previous score and a line naming the question and assistant that gained most.
  3. Read the summary at the top: the score for the current period, the score before it (“vs previous”) and the change in points.

  4. Read the line under it. It names the question that moved your score most, for example “Biggest drop” or “Biggest gain”, and the assistant that moved most. Select the question to open it.

Note

The panel works out its numbers separately from the card, so its total can differ from the card’s. Use it to see what moved, not as a second score.

See which questions, assistants and topics moved

  1. Select Prompts, Platforms or Topics above the table.

  2. Read Prev, Cur and Change for each row. Rows are sorted by their current score, highest first, so look down the Change column for the drops.

The Prompts, Platforms and Topics tabs (1) and the Prev, Cur and Change columns (2). The demo business asks its questions on four assistants. Made-up demo business, captured October 23, 2026.
The Platforms tab of the breakdown, listing ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overview and Google Gemini with their previous score, current score and change.
  3. On Prompts, select a question to read what each assistant said.

The breakdown uses the same date, topic, region and assistant filters as the page. Select the Mentions card instead to open Mentions Breakdown, which shows the change in how many times you were named.

Common reasons a score moves

An assistant started naming someone else for one question. Read that question’s answers and check the sites it cites.

You added or paused questions. The score covers the questions that got answers in the period, so a new question that does not name you yet pulls it down at first.

An assistant changed how it answers. When an update moves most businesses at once, Proof lists it under Market-wide moves; see When an AI update moves everyone’s results.

You changed your website or listings. A rise after a change does not prove the change caused it. Log the change in Proof and LegitGeo compares your answers before and after with similar businesses that changed nothing in the same weeks. A gain that holds up against them is called verified lift. See Find out whether a fix worked.

Tip

One day is often noise: on 24h, a single answer can move the score. Look at 7d or 30d before you act on a change.

Frequently asked questions

Why does the breakdown say “No data in this window yet”?

Nothing in that list was checked in the period you picked. Choose a longer Date Range.

Can I see why my score changed on one assistant only?

Yes. Choose the assistant in AI Model first, then open the breakdown. It follows the page’s filters.
