The free check failed, shows an old score or says I reached the limit
Why a check can fail, why a site checked in the last 24 hours shows its earlier result, and how many checks you can run in an hour.
If your address is not accepted
Before a check starts, LegitGeo makes sure the address looks like a public website. If it does not, a red message appears under Your website and nothing is checked.
Read the red message under the field.
The message (1), the Your website field (2) and Check my site (3). Screen captured October 23, 2026. Type the address as it appears in your browser, for example
yourbusiness.com. You do not needhttps://orwww..Select Check my site.
“That does not look like a web address. Try yourbusiness.com.”: look for spaces or typos.
“Enter a public website address, like yourbusiness.com.”: the address is missing its ending, such as .com, or is not a public site.
“Enter your domain name, like yourbusiness.com, not an IP address.”: type the name, not the number.
“We couldn’t find” followed by your address: the site could not be found. Check the spelling and that the site is online.
“That web address can’t be scanned.”: use your public website address, like https://yourbusiness.com.
If the check could not finish
A red box that starts We couldn’t finish checking means the check started but did not complete.
Open your website in a browser to make sure it loads.
Select Try again.
“Your website took too long to respond.”: the site was slow to answer. Try again in a few minutes.
“Something went wrong on our side. Please try again in a minute.”: the problem is ours. Try again shortly.
“This check is taking much longer than usual. Please try again.”: the page stopped waiting after 4 minutes.
A check that failed leaves no result, so you can try again straight away. It still counts toward the hourly limit below. If it fails every time, email hello@legitgeo.com with your website address.
Why it shows an old score
Each website is checked at most once every 24 hours. If anyone checked the same site in the last 24 hours, you see that earlier result straight away instead of a new check. Addresses with and without www. count as the same site.
The date is under the score, with how many pages were read, for example “10 pages read, checked October 9, 2026”.
If you have just fixed something, wait until 24 hours have passed since the earlier check, then check again. Assistants read your site again on their own schedule, so a better score does not mean they have noticed the change yet.
The free check reads up to 10 pages. On a plan, Diagnosis reads up to 25 and you can run it when you like, within your monthly allowance: 20 a month on Local, 60 on Growth and 200 on Agency. See Check how ready your website is for AI assistants.
Your result has its own page address, ending in ?id= and a code. Bookmark it to come back later. Anyone you give the link to can see the result.
If it says you reached the limit
An amber box titled You’ve reached the free check limit for now means one of these limits was reached. They reset on their own.
“You have run 5 free checks in the last hour.”: each visitor can start 5 new checks an hour. Seeing an earlier result for a site checked in the last 24 hours does not count.
“Our free checker is busy right now.”: many people are checking at once. Try again in a few minutes.
“You have run several checks in a short time.”: too many tries within 15 minutes. Wait a few minutes.
If the report email does not arrive
The full report comes from hello@legitgeo.com, with a subject that starts “Your AI readiness report for” followed by your site and score. Check your spam folder first, then see I didn’t get the confirmation, reset or invitation email.
“You have asked for several reports already. Please try again in an hour.”: up to 5 report requests an hour.
“This report has already been sent several times.”: one result can be emailed 3 times at most.
“We have already sent several reports to this address today. Please try again tomorrow.”: one inbox gets 3 reports a day at most.
Email reports are temporarily unavailable: sending is switched off for now. Bookmark the result page instead.
Frequently asked questions
Does a high score mean AI assistants recommend my business?
No. The score says how easily AI assistants can read and quote your site. Whether they name you is measured by tracking their answers on a plan.
Is the free check saved to my account?
No. The free check is separate from any account, and a new account does not copy it. On a plan, Diagnosis keeps every check you run.
