Why the numbers differ between pages
Overview, Visibility, Topics, reports and the Action Center look at different periods and measures, and none of them is the Proof verdict.
What each page measures
Overview, AI answers: the average score of every answer in the last 30 days, compared with the 30 days before.
Visibility: one score for all the answers in the date range you pick, from how often assistants name you (60%), link to your site (25%) and how early they name you (15%). It opens on the latest daily run, and Topic, Region and AI Model narrow it further.
Topics: the same score as Visibility over the last 30 days, worked out separately for the questions in each topic.
Reports: the same score as Visibility for the period you chose, frozen when the report was made.
Action Center, History: whether your numbers moved, comparing the 7 days before the action appeared with the 7 days after it was closed. A result appears about 8 days after closing. Moves under 5% count as no change.
Proof: the verdict on a change you made, from four weeks of answers before it and four weeks after. This is verified lift: LegitGeo checks whether assistants named you more often after the change, compared with answers the change should not have moved and with similar businesses that changed nothing in the same weeks. A model update that lifted everyone does not count as your win.
Why Overview and Visibility show different scores
Overview averages the score of each answer, while Visibility puts all the answers together and then works out one score. They use the same answers but rarely give the same number, even for the same 30 days. Reports, Topics and the competitor Leaderboard use the Visibility score.
On Overview, read the AI answers row. It covers the last 30 days.
The AI answers row on Overview covers the last 30 days (1). Harborline Plumbing is a made-up business; screen captured October 23, 2026. Open Visibility and select 30d under Date Range.
Set Topic, Region and AI Model to All Topics, All Regions and All Platforms.
30d (2) and the three filters set to all (3). The same 852 mentions give 34.2 here and 13 on Overview. Harborline Plumbing is a made-up business; screen captured October 23, 2026.
Now both pages count the same answers, so the mention counts match or come very close, but the scores still differ. When you quote your score, quote the Visibility one and say which dates it covers.
Why Topics shows different numbers
Select Topics in the sidebar. The line under the title says the page covers the last 30 days. It has no date filter.
Read AI score (30d) in Topic leaderboard. Each topic’s score counts only the questions in that topic, so the topic scores do not add up or average out to your overall score.
The fixed 30-day period (1) and the AI score (30d) column (2). Harborline Plumbing is a made-up business; screen captured October 23, 2026.
A question without a topic is left out of every topic. A topic gets numbers only once questions are assigned to it and checked. See Group your questions into topics.
Why an Action Center result is not a Proof verdict
Select Action Center in the sidebar, then the History tab.
Read the Result column: Improved, No meaningful change, Declined, Not measured or Not measurable. Not measured means there is no result: the action is still open, the week after it was closed is not over yet, or it was dismissed, and a dismissed action is never measured. Not measurable means LegitGeo had no numbers to compare for that action.
Action Center (1), History (2) and the Result column (3). Harborline Plumbing is a made-up business; screen captured October 23, 2026.
That result is a quick look at the week before the action appeared and the week after it was closed. It cannot tell your change apart from a model update or a busy season. Proof can, and it takes about a month: four weeks of answers after the change goes live, plus three days for assistants to read your pages again. Its verdicts are Verified, Probably helped, No effect found, Went down and Not proven. See What each verdict means and How long a verdict takes.
Why numbers change in the evening
At the start of each daily run, about 7 pm Pacific (6 pm in winter), LegitGeo recalculates the last few days to include answers that arrived late or outside the daily run, such as a new question checked straight away. The 7-, 30- and 90-day numbers can move a little each evening even when nothing else happened. The 24h view stays on the latest finished run until the next one is complete.
A report keeps the numbers it had when it was made. Create a new report to see the latest ones. See Create a report and download it as a PDF.
On the Tracked Prompts card, the big number counts questions that got answers in the range you picked. The line under it, for example 20 / 100 prompt locations, ignores the date range: it is how much of your plan’s question limit you use today, paused questions included.
